2023 is coming to an end, I still have the same feeling, time flies. This year was full of challenges, from work and settling into life abroad.

# Work, Life 📝

Moving abroad should be the most difficult thing to do this year. There is a language barrier, cultural differences, and a new rhythm of life to adjust to; it has not been easy, and I have not resolved all of the issues.

But I believe that things will be better, I hope I can be more courageous and have no regrets about any of my decisions in the future.

# Exercise 🚵🏻

I had a health checkup in April this year. The results were a wake-up call—I started exercising more, doing cardio 4~5 times a week, cooking by myself and eating healthier. I'm proud that I insisted on these things after April, now they're my habits, and I also lost over 10 kg.

I worked from Taiwan from October to mid-December; I got my first road bike and began my road bike journey. I really enjoy cycling and believe I will continue to do so in the long future.

# Mountain ⛰️

This year should be my first year of serious trekking. I completed 7 百岳 in Taiwan which are:

Mountains in Taiwan are really amazing, although I enjoy the process of trekking, sometimes I still feel hard, but all the hard feeling was gone when I reached the summit.

I also finished 富士山 before the end of the season. The top of Mt. Fuji was really amazing, I have been curious how is it summit like all the time, I was finally able to see it in person. However, the scenery along the way I would say I believe many mountains have more beautiful view, but I'm still happy, feel more like completing a milestone in Japan.

# Investment 📈

I started to invest Taiwan stock market again. There was a bull market in 2020, I sold all of my TW stock shares and put 100% of my investment into crypto at that time. I always realize that it's not safe to put everything in a single market—like when the FTX bankruptcy happened the year before. Hence, I started the DCA strategy, while I haven't putted too much money yet, but I do feel good to start making some progress.

For crypto parts, I started buying some spot and lending my assets to get interest. I even tried to build my own quantitative trading strategy, but the results were not good, even negative, I ended up giving up to build my own strategy.

Although building strategies failed, I think I still learned something from back-testing and knowing that this is a specialized field that requires a lot of domain knowledge.

What I learned this year

I feel like it's still been a difficult year for me, but I feel somehow peaceful on the last day of 2023, I learned and realized, do what you love to do, life is short, work hard and play hard, embrace our weaknesses.

And, unlike last year, I will set more specific goals this year, as well as make them more quantitative. Goodbye 2023, I'm ready to face all of the challenges again.
